Sinus Arrythmia

The term, Sinus Arrythmia is actually a misnomer as it is not a true arrythmis but a normal physiological responce to decreased left ventricular pressure.

  1. Actually there are two forms of "sinus arrhythmia" - respiratory sinus arrhythmia which is due to changes in vagal tone with the respiratory cycle (and which is what you are referring to), and non-respiratory sinus arrhythmia in which the irregularity of heart beats originating from the sinus node is due to pathology and has no relationship with the respiratory cycle. This latter form is most certainly an arrhythmia.
